Why a new software?

I bought many books about guitar-playing, but none of them explained me the connection between the chords, arpeggios and scales. I found some cool licks and scales in the internet and method books, but they were just fragments. I never got the whole picture. I still had questions how chords were created and how I could create my own chords.

To practice with a metronom is not the real fun to me and it doesn't show me harmonic relationships. Probably my friends also have no fun to play the rhythmguitar for me, while I am practicing scales for hours. Then I started to record myself, playing the rhythms of some songs for about three minutes. Sometimes I recorded only two chords for three minutes, so I could practice a lick. But there were too many licks and so I had to record a lot and in different tempos.

So I got the idea to create a software with a pool of songs and a flexible playback-engine, wich also shows me the notes I could play over each chord. And here it is...

Djangolizer

As the name implies, this software gives you the chance to learn and practice guitar in the Gypsy Swing style, as the great Django Reinhardt played it. Actually, Djangolizer helps any guitarplayer to increase his understanding for Jazzmusic and how to play in all the twelve tonalities.
Anyway, Djangolizer is not only for guitar players. It shows you also the score and you can transpose songs into all the tonalities, used by clarinet and saxophone players.
Whenever your friends have no time for a jamsession, you can tell Djangolizer to accompany you in the tempo you like and you can tell him, if you want to practice over just certain measures in a loop.
Djangolizer shows you for each chord the arpeggionotes and the possible scales you can play over it.
If you have a photographic memory, you will learn rapidly. You don‘t have to know any music theory, but for sure it will help. Your ears are the best teacher. Anyway, Django Reinhardt couldn‘t read score! He was illiterate.
As a guitar teacher, you can print out sheets for your students with all the chords and scales of a song.

Conclusion

Djangolizer cannot replace a good teacher! Especially in Gypsy Swing, the right hand technique is very important and best taught by a teacher.
But you have in Djangolizer access to many exercices and methods, to get an understanding of how Jazz in general works.

Under the position "Tips & Tricks" you will find a good indroduction, how to practice your instrument (especially guitar) with Djangolizer.

Djangolizer is an addition and a welcome support for your practicing.

Even though Djangolizer is quite an old software (since 2010), it is still my best friend for practicing the Gypsy Guitar!
